«Los corazones privados de amor se vuelven crueles, codiciosos y feroces, como guerreros extranjeros en una ciudad vencida. Se entregan al pillaje y a la matanza de los demás corazones, y convierten los días de fiesta en noches de duelo.” Marco Denevi
Seis extravagantes hermanos -Iluminada, Meneranda, Patricio de la Escosura, Honorato, Lucrezia y Anacarsis-, feroces y codiciosos, diseñan un plan para apoderarse de los bienes materiales de personas adineradas. En un clima humorístico de comedia negra, asistimos a la peripecia de estos personajes que desembocará, finalmente, en una tragedia imprevista. Como vampiros contemporáneos, la sed de posesiones materiales, el individualismo, la negación del amor y del erotismo, los va ganando por completo hasta llevarlos a urdir una siniestra gran estafa.
Esta adaptación teatral de la novela de Marco Denevi de 1972, imaginada antes de la pandemia y retomada y resignificada en esta postpandemia, rescata los tópicos de la obra del autor, “ese ilustre desconocido”, al decir de uno de sus biógrafos: el ascenso y apogeo del peronismo y sus consecuencias en el entramado social, el microcosmos familiar en un contexto de clase media “pretenciosa”, que alterna sus propios mandatos hereditarios (de inmigrantes europeos) con el hecho de asumir la impostura de un nuevo status social y las dicotomías: cuerpo/alma, muerte/inmortalidad y pureza/degradación. Todo esto enmarcado en el género de la comedia negra y con el humor tan característico de Marco Denevi.
